Game Studio

  1. We are looking for a passionate, resourceful and enthusiastic DevOps Engineer to join our Brisbane studio. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of game developers on creating some of the best massive multiplayer social RTS games on the market. Your main tasks will include automating deployment and testing processes, collaborating with software engineers on operational and infrastructure matters. The keys to your success in this role are going to be deep and thorough understanding of Java technology stack, Unix server environments, database management, high-scalability/availability concepts and excellent communication skills.

What you get to do every day:

-Troubleshoot and resolve new and unique problems without a predefined solution
-Work in close collaboration with the development team to resolve game issues that affect our customers.
-Coordinate with key stakeholders to realize performance improvements
-Be exposed to a wide variety of new technologies at scale

Responsibilities:

-Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration – Ubuntu/Debian preferred
-Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Ansible or an equivalent
-Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is required)
-A working understanding of code and script (Python and/or Ruby)
-Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service

Would be nice to have:

-Bachelor’s degree or an extremely compelling list of relevant excellence
-2+ years of system administration experience preferred
-Strong experience with MySQL and MongoDB/NoSQL
-Monitoring experience – Nagios/Shinken, ElasticSearch, Logstash, Splunk
-Prior NOC experience, game or application space, finance or web services industries a major plus

2. Your role as a QA Analyst is to ensure high-quality delivery of features and systems in a live video game serving a large audience. When we refer to quality, we mean both that it works as expected and as specified, as many unlikely scenarios where the feature might break have been tested as possible, and that the feature makes sense from the point of view of the player — and that it’s fun.

As a QA Analyst you will work directly with every department on the game team. Iteration on our product is rapid with new releases every week. Often times you will be testing new features before they are fully complete. You will interact directly with the engineers who have developed the feature. Good communication skills are required to be effective in this role.

Along with ad hoc testing, you will be expected to write test plans and test casing as well as organizing test suites to be run by other team members. A careful and thoughtful approach to writing directions both in your test casing and in bug reports is expected. Clarity is key.

We work at a fast pace, often shifting our focus back and forth between live issues and upcoming features that demand our attention.

Last, but not least, this role is best suited for someone who genuinely loves gaming and wants to be part of a world-class development team.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers to understand feature and improvement specifications, and develop testing plans to assure the quality of these features and improvements can be achieved within development timelines

Plan for upcoming features and schedule testing in a team of peers

Execute test plans and seek to refine methodologies over time

Assist with product releases and live issue diagnosis as needed

Have passion for the game and a sensitivity to the user experience — play a lot

Requirements:

Ideally, you have experience with video game testing in a live ops environment; short of this, software testing experience in consumer web or other high-concurrency environment

Excellent communication skills and ability to be a team player in a fast-paced environment.
