1. VFX Artist
There’s never been a more exciting time to join GREE. We’re on a mission to redefine mobile gaming, and we need an exceptional VFX artist to help put the ‘wow factor’ into our cutting-edge new title. You’ll be joining a small yet powerful team of talented individuals and industry veterans. We’re all game geeks around here and we know your passions because we’re the ones playing alongside you.
Responsibilities
Design and create captivating and highly performant VFX for a new mobile IP using Photoshop, Maya, Unity and in-game FX systems. Execute concept and production designs while working collaboratively with the Technical, Design and Creative teams. Work closely with Producers and Product Owners to ensure that VFX meet expected visual quality target, satisfy marketing goals and meet production schedules. Collaborate and communicate with the Art Director, Designers and Project Managers for the creation of concepts, visual targets, project style-guides, implementation and final polish of VFX through the production cycle. Designing and maintaining clear naming conventions and organization for asset files. Proactively manage asset file size and monitor performance issues.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience creating visual effects for Mobile games using Unity A solid grasp of the principles of animation, physics, lighting and gameplay. Previous work with real time 3d particle system (Unity preferred), physics, ribbons, shaders, solid knowledge of rendering engines. The ability to author textures and geometry as needed for VFX. The ability to discuss and present your work, take direction and feedback from stakeholders. The ability to be organized and work with the AD and project manager to manage priorities and the VFX production schedule in a dynamic, agile environment. Present a well-organized portfolio that demonstrates a compelling visual style, polished technical implementation and an understanding of mobile game VFX development. A self-starter with a high level of initiative who is proactive in finding creative and effective solutions to day-to-day problems and working with the development team and project manager resolving conflicts.

2. Technical Artist

Our Melbourne studio is a talented community of artists, engineers and designers who are passionately creating an innovative new mobile title. As a Technical Artist, you’ll be working with an exceptionally talented team of artists, programmers and designers that are passionately creating an innovative new mobile title. You’ll draw upon your extensive knowledge of artistic tools, scripts and game features, and lighting and physics to redefine players’ expectations of mobile gaming.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate directly with artists and engineers to improve workflows, create and implement scripts and game features.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of game asset workflows and pipelines for and performance parameters for mobile games.
Assist artists and designers with the implementation of assets into the game engine that meets the visual target and technical requirements.
Proactively work with the team to ensure that asset file size and performance issues are understood and monitored.

Desired Skills & Experience:
Education in 2D/3D art and software development
Extensive experience with Photoshop, Flash, Unity, 3D Software
Experience writing and debugging Scripts: MEL, Python, Unity, Photoshop etc.
Experience writing pipeline tools
Desire and ability to work collaboratively in a creative and dynamic environment.
Attention to detail, respect for game performance, and a highly collaborative, creative problem solver.
The ability to work with a project manager on priorities and production schedules.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to work effectively with small to large teams in a deadline-driven environment

Bonus points for the following:
Background in 3D/Modelling and illustration
Bachelor degree in Fine Arts, Animation or Computer Science
C# or any engineering skills.

3. UI Artist
As a UI Artist at GREE, you’ll be working on a new mobile title and will be involved in early stage design, concept and production. The job of the UI artist is to tackle complex systems and turn them into intuitive, accessible and easy-to-use designs – from the first-time player to the hard-core gamer. Achieving this goal requires collaboration with teams of Artists, Designers, Engineers and Product Managers throughout the design and production process. Ultimately it’s about pushing the boundaries to create an innovative mobile game experience for millions of players around the world!
On your first day, we’ll expect you to have:
  • Passion for mobile games with a portfolio of AAA quality UI art work
  • Hands on experience as a UI artist, primarily with mobile games (iOS and Android)
  • Deep understanding of UI design principles and user experience concepts
  • Strong ability to communicate, collaborate and adapt within a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in elevating the game by challenging the status quo, and someone who can easily step into the player’s shoes with the enthusiasm to create awesome experience for our customers.
  • Experience with Adobe Suite, Flash and Unity (great, but not essential).
