1. Weta Digital is looking for Software Developer and Pipeline Technical Director to join their Motion R&D team.

The requirements for the role are:
• Organized and experienced in managing development projects and prioritizing pressures
• Excellent communicator, able to liaise with developers and artists to understand feature requests and solve production problems
• Flexible and adaptable, comfortable in a fast moving team environment
• Clear understanding of modern programming techniques and technologies
• Good proven experience with Python, Qt and PyQt/PySide, C/C++
• Knowledge of GIT or other version control system
• Maya and/or Motionbuilder API experience desirable, (scripting and programming plugins)
• Preferred understanding of motion capture pipeline
• Working knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies
• Experience or interest in development of user facing tools
• Experience with multi¬-threaded, multi¬-platform development and performance optimization
• Degree in computer science preferred or proof of equivalent experience

2. Weta Digital is hiring Shader TDs.

Candidates will ideally have at least 3 years of feature film experience and display the following attributes:

Essential skills:
• Experience in shading and look developing for photo-realistic feature films.
• Strong LookDev skills (both artistically and technically), with an excellent understanding of physically based shading & rendering.
• Ability to come up with creative, efficient rendering solutions for a wide variety of assets
• Ability to manage multiple assets at the same time, and put them seamlessly together in a visually coherent solution
• Familiarity with Maya and Linux.
• Experience with all aspects of the rendering pipeline.
• Strong communication, task management and organisational skills.
• Ability to implement both technical and artistic solutions in order to efficiently handle complexity

Preferential skills:
• Experience leading teams or small groups of artists
• Knowledge of Python scripting
• Shader writing experience

Within the Shaders Department at Weta, the work we undertake requires areas of specialised experience and focus; for example Environments, Materials, Characters & FX. 3. QA Software Tester

Weta Digital is looking to improve the quality and stability of our internal tool chain.

This is an opportunity for an experienced QA/Test Engineer to come on board and help us to improve our testing platform for the company.
The successful candidate will work directly with VFX artists as well as software developers throughout the whole development process and being involved with the creation of new products and toolchains. This role will encompass both manual testing as well as test automation as we look to improve our overall process for QA & testing at Weta Ditgial.

Role and Responsibilities:
• Design and implement full functional and structural testing strategy for our pipeline software
• Work closely with both the development teams and artists to quantify and validate workflows.
• Create test rails to ensure we meet our stated design goals for new tools and workflows
• Monitor existing tools/toolchains for regressions in functionality.
• Convey concerns and bugs clearly back to the development teams.
• Highlight UI/UX issues that compromise the ease of use of in house tools.
• Understand feedback from the artists and convey those concerns back to the development teams.
• Suggest improvements to the testing framework to improve tool stability and quality.
• Assist in rollout/deployment of software to production environments.

Skills Required:
• 5+ years QA domain experience
• Working knowledge of Python and/or C++ including development processes and tools.
• Self-motivated & able to function with minimal direct management.
• Experience with bug tracking and Test Management Systems is desirable (Jira, test track, testrail or similar).

Desired Skills:
• Working knowledge of Linux
• Be comfortable writing code, working closely with developers and within teams
• Experience with VFX pipelines and processes.
• Experience with 3D tools (e.g. Maya, Houdini etc.).
• Experience improving and maintaining automated testing frameworks is desirable.
